In the Deppmann and Guler labs we aim to foster a space and community where individuals are comfortable, seen and appreciated. To this end, we approach all people with an open mind, curiosity, and a healthy appreciation for the value of diversity.
Consistent with our mission and goals we value and believe that people of all sexes, sexual orientations, age, ability, gender identities, races, ethnicities, religions, countries of origin, socioeconomic status or any additional marginalized groups can be outstanding scientists. We strive to promote diverse representation and inclusion in our labs and provide equitable access to opportunities across students, postdocs, faculty, and staff. We unequivocally denounce any kind of racism. Black lives matter.
To this end we strive to respect and hold each other accountable. We strive to stand up against actions or statements that violate our core values. In the shadow of Mr. Jefferson’s University and the Department of Biology where egregious abuses have been well documented, we acknowledge that there remains work to do.
