The sensory mountain

Somatosensory diversification · E11.5–P4

Conceptual Waddington landscape. Solid routes preserve published URD or summary relationships. Dashed links denote unsampled ancestry, alignment of overlapping analyses, or a putative state. Height, spacing and motion are illustrative. The apex represents a progenitor state, not a lineage-traced single cell.

Developmental time

Partial source-evidence preview. The study collected DRGs daily from E11.5 to P4, and the stage guide uses those collection ages. Figures 4d, 4e and 8a print the same ages in whole-day shorthand (E11–E18); reported windows quote the figures as printed. All 21 outcomes have phenotype windows; five internal URD segments and the common-root age remain unassigned. Published windows are not empirical segment-by-stage distributions. Figure 8 phagocytic range and Figure 3 P4 anchor remain separate evidence.

Incoming routes use their child state’s age evidence, not a measured transition time. The geometric axis is not calibrated to chronological age.
